Satish Kumar Patel is a contemporary Indian artist whose journey reflects resilience, transformation, and an enduring devotion to visual storytelling. Currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Painting at the Faculty of Visual Arts, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), he is a Gold Medalist whose work bridges academic excellence with deeply emotional artistic expression.

A Journey Shaped by Struggle and Determination

Satish’s path into the art world was not originally planned. Growing up with dreams of becoming an engineer, his direction changed due to financial challenges within his family. This turning point, rather than limiting him, became the foundation of his artistic identity.

He redirected his aspirations into visual art, choosing to build a future through creativity and expression. Today, after completing both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Fine Arts at BHU, he continues to refine his practice as a research scholar while steadily building a name for himself in the field of painting.

His journey reflects discipline, persistence, and a commitment to turning personal struggle into creative purpose.

Artistic Inspiration and Vision

Satish draws inspiration primarily from his family and nature. These two forces form the emotional backbone of his work, grounding his practice in lived experience and natural observation.

He is particularly interested in the emotional depth found in everyday life and the silent narratives embedded in natural and man-made environments.

His work is influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, styles that allow him to explore light, emotion, and perception in expressive ways.

Satish frequently focuses on old and broken objects, as well as natural elements, using them as symbolic representations of human experience.

For him, broken or aged objects are not simply remnants of the past—they represent happiness, sorrow, and karma, offering layered meaning within his compositions.

Medium and Technique

Satish works across multiple mediums, with a strong preference for acrylic painting. He also explores drypoint, pencil, and watercolor techniques.

This versatility allows him to express different emotional tones and experiment with texture, depth, and atmosphere in his work.

Connecting With the Audience

Satish hopes his work creates a strong emotional and reflective connection with viewers. He achieves this through:

  • Deep exploration of subject matter
  • Emotional and visual dialogue within the composition
  • Creating imagery that allows viewers to “feel” rather than just see

His goal is not only to present visual beauty, but to evoke internal reflection and emotional response.
